How your city works

A coastal village is a collection of local buildings, resources, orders, defenses, and troops.

Local and account-wide progress #

Buildings, resources, training queues, troops, Walls, and trading ships belong to a city. University research and Gems belong to the account, so completed research benefits every city you own.

A practical growth route #

Updated for game update #110 (merged 5 October 2026): From Hall level 6, the four producers need level N−2 instead of N−1, and Walls are only required at Hall levels 10, 15, 20 and 25.

Start with the four ordinary-resource producers and Warehouse, then keep the four producers level with the Town Center Hall until it reaches level 5 and no more than one level behind it after that, and raise Walls to the Hall’s level before upgrading it to levels 2–5, 10, 15, 20, or 25. Build the facility for the troop type you need, and use the University for its unlock research.

World placement #

Settlements use fixed coastal village slots. Each island has ten stable slots; the Port, Navy, and Ship Command Station belong by accessible water.

Starting-city values #

Rules reference. Values come from the game rules at revision 999310651f (snapshot e5f090b681, checked 5 October 2026). Changes applied since then: Town Center Hall upgrades need fewer producer levels (update #110; source: backend/server.py upgrade_requirements() and HALL_WALL_MILESTONES at e737bc7 (commit 1e93341)). Base values exclude conditional bonuses such as VIP and active monuments. Numbers can change between playtest updates.
